Fachtagung zur Infektionsepidemiologie in Bielefeld, 12.-16.09.11

B-Gefahren: Die Universität Bielefeld richtet im September zwei epidemiologische Fachtagungen aus. Vom 12. - 16. September findet die 13. International Summer School "Infectious Disease Epidemiology" statt, zeitgleich wird die 3. Summer School "Spatial Epidemiology in Megacities" abgehalten.

Die Sommerakademie Infektionsepidemiologie wird vom Institut für Innovationstransfer an der Universität Bielefeld GmbH (IIT) in Zusammenarbeit mit der Fakultät für Gesundheitswissenschaften, Universität Bielefeld veranstaltet. Das Angebot ist als Trainingskurs für Methodenwissen aus dem Bereich der Epidemiologie zu verstehen. Die Unterrichtssprache ist englisch.

Folgende Themen sind geplant:
- Modern epidemiological methods for infectious diseases
- Outbreak investigation and surveillance
- Mathematical modelling, Introduction to SPSS for data analysis and basic health statistics
- Health economical evaluations
- Vaccinations
- (Re-)emerging infections due to climate change and tuberculosis
- Antibiotic resistance and nosocomial infections
- STDs including HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis B/C
- Pandemic influenza 2009/2010 A (H1/N1)

Die Parallelveranstaltung "Spatial Epidemiology in Megacities: Statistical and Spatial Analysis of Health Under a Changing Climate" findet nach ähnlichem Muster statt. Die Inhalte:

After completing the course, our participants will be able:
- to understand the multidisciplinarity of health problems in megacities
- to reflect upon concepts of vulnerability and resilience in a theoretical and empirical sense
- to approach concepts of population projection, epidemiological and demographical transitions
- to apply statistical techniques (e.g. logistic regressions) which are commonly used in health sciences
- to apply geospatial techniques (e.g. spatial analyses and modelling) which are commonly used in geography
- to work more effectively in collaboration with other disciplines for investigating multidisciplinary problems to develop sustainable strategies for the improvement of living conditions in megacities
